Copies of 2011 asset and liabilities disclosures of the Senators

MANILA, Philippines – The Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (RA 6713) requires all government officials and personnel to submit sworn statements of assets, liabilities, net worth within 30 days after assuming office and no later than April 30 every year thereafter.

As part of our coverage of the annual deadline, Rappler sent out researchers to the various agencies designated by law as SALN repositories: Malacañang (for presidential appointees), the Ombudsman, the Senate Secretary, the House Secretary General, and the office of the Supreme Court administrator.

We also sent out requests for copies of the SALNs to individual high ranking government officials.

Rappler tried to obtain a list of senators who have already submitted their asset disclosures to the Senate Secretary but was told that the list, as well as the copies of the documents, will only be made available within 15 days.

The law requires repository agencies to make the documents available for reproduction within 10 working days

Rappler also asked individual senators’s offices for copies of their respective asset disclosures. Senators Francis Escudero, Panfilo Lacson and Manuel Villar sent us copies. Senator Antonio Trillanes IV earlier posted a copy of his disclosure document on his website.

The office of Senator Pia Cayetano did not send Rappler a copy of her SALN but her media relations officer told us that, according to her assets disclosure, the Senator’s net worth for 2011 is P72,058,846.58–or around P4 million less than her declared net worth for 2010 of P76,775,628.71.

Failure to declare assets and liabilities according to the requirements of law is among the charges currently lodged against Chief Justice Renato Corona at the Senate.

Below are copies of the SALNs obtained by Rappler so far from the senators. We will update this page as we get additional asset disclosures from individual senators and from the Senate Secretary.
