
Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) victims gave President Benigno Aquino III a net satisfaction rating of +54% or “very good” in a survey conducted by polling firm Social Weather Stations in December 2013. Among victims polled, 73% said they were satisfied with the President, while 19% said they were dissatisfied. Outside the Yolanda-devastated areas, Aquino received a net satisfaction rating of +48% or “good.” This shows that victims of the super typhoon are happier about the performance of Aquino compared to the rest of the population. Historically, the Visayas, which bore the brunt of the typhoon, is kinder to government officials, while Metro Manila and Luzon are often more critical of government.
