2 are injured in a firefight with armed men, while a rubber farmer dies after stepping on a land mine

BASILAN, Philippines – Two members of the Philippine Army’s civilian active auxiliary unit were injured Friday, February 7, after an encounter with an armed group in Basilan.
At around 6 am Friday, members of the Charlie Company of the 64th Infrantry Battalion were conducting a combat patrol when they encountered armed men Sitio Lukketon, Barangay Sukaten in Sumisip, Basilan.
After 15 minutes of firefight, two members were left injured.
Also in Basilan, a man died after a land mine exploded at a rubber farm in Barangay Mebak, Sumisip town.
Mih Ustalin was checking rubber trees in the farm when the land mine exploded, killing him.
