
Flappy Bird developer Nguyen Ha Dong concedes the game was ‘just too addictive,’ citing this as the main reason for its sudden removal from both iTunes and Google Play app stores. Speaking exclusively to the Wall Street Journal, the Hanoi-based developer says the game’s addictiveness was something he did not like. “I just wanted to create a game that people could enjoy for a few minutes,” said Nguyen. The game, which involves guiding a bird through a series of difficult passageways has gained fast fame online because the game play is so simple and yet makes it difficult to score high points. Nguyen was reportedly raking in an average of $50,000 a day in advertising revenue. But Nguyen sought to downplay rumors why he took the game down, saying he just didn’t like the attention.
