NCR breaks two records, dominates Day 1 of Swimming

The National Capital Region displayed its dominance in swimming after taking 12 out of the 16 gold medals at stake on the first day of the swimming competition at the 2012 Palarong Pambansa in Pangasinan. 16-year-old Delia Cordero was the star of the show, breaking two Palaro records including a 13-year 200m butterfly record set by Althea Lim in 1999. Her other record came in the 4 x 50m medley relay where she led the NCR team to a record shattering win. With its string of victories, the NCR has overtaken Western Visayas in the Medal Tally race with almost 20 golds as of 8pm yesterday.
