#Trafficgeddon: Are you ready?

MANILA, Philippines – Manila as traffic capital is not at all new. 

But things may just get worse in the coming years as the Philippine government launches a series of simultaneous roadworks from 2014 to 2016. Citizens are simply told to bear this short-term inconvenience that government says will pave the way for better roads in the National Capital Region.

The construction of Skyway Stage 3, which began Monday evening, February 17, caused a stir on social media, with many netizens hassled and frazzled by the slow-moving traffic in the metro.

A few days before the construction began, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and Skyway O & M Corporation advised motorists to take alternate roads to avoid traffic along the stretch of Osmeña Highway, where the Skyway work area is located. 

Apart from the Skyway Stage 3, at least 15 other road projects are lined up for construction.
