Fire razes more than 70 houses in Maharlika Village

MANILA, Philippines – A blaze burned down over 70 houses in Maharlika Village in Taguig City Tuesday night, February 18, radio reports said.

More than 100 families were affected, DZBB radio reported. 

The fire reached up to Alert Level 4, according to DZMM radio. It was placed under control at about 11:30 pm Tuesday – two hours after reports of the incident first surfaced. 

Located in a 40-hectare property, Maharlika Village was created during the Marcos administration to serve as an enclave for Muslims in Metro Manila. 

 

It is known as the well-off section of Barangay Maharlika, which also houses settlements for poorer families.
