MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang is hopeful that Filipino-Mexican American Idol contestant Jessica Sanchez would win the coveted title with the relentless support of the Filipino community in the United States.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a radio interview that Sanchez does not even need an official endorsement from Malacañang to get support from US-based Filipinos.
“With all the support that she’s getting from the Filipinos with or without a call from the Executive, that [momentum] will continue,” Valte said.
She said Malacañang wishes the 16-year-old singing sensation “the best of luck in this final stretch.”
“We hope that the next American Idol would be Jessica Sanchez,” Valte said.
Sanchez is in the top three of AI, along with Philip Philips and Joshua Ledet. The 3 will compete again on Thursday morning (Manila time), May 17. – Rappler.com
