The school cancels classes and office work after receiving calls warning about a possible bomb explosion

MANILA, Philippines – A bomb threat  on Friday, March 21, prompted the cancellation of the grade school recognition program of San Beda College-Rizal.

The campus was cleared at 9:05 am by the Bomb Disposal Unit of Taytay, according to Ruben dela Cruz, officer-in-charge of San Beda’s security office.

Dela Cruz told Rappler in a phone interview that a “concerned parent” called at 5:57 am, informing the guard of a bomb that would explode during the school’s recognition program from 8 am to 12 nn.

Dela Cruz received another call at 6:05 am which detailed where 3 bombs would explode: one from a car, and two from undisclosed locations of the school.

He immediately asked people to vacate the school and informed the management of the two calls. Classes and office work were cancelled at past 7 am.

Last February, bomb threats via text messages also prompted the suspension of classes in Ateneo de Manila University. (READ: Cleared: Ateneo reopens after bomb threat)

The University of Santo Tomas, St. Paul College-Pasig, and Makati National High School also received bomb threats recently. – Rappler.com
