MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III has appointed Assistant Ombudsman Rodolfo Elman as the new Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao, the Office of the Ombudsman announced on Friday, March 21.

Elman took his oath of office on Thursday before Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales. He assumed the post left by Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao Humphrey Monteroso, who retired in December 2013.

Elman, who was conferred the rank of Career Executive Service Officer (CESO) III in 1999, rose from the ranks, starting his 25-year career in the Office of the Ombudsman as an investigator. He was Assistant Ombudsman for Mindanao prior to his latest appointment.

He obtained his economics degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and his law degree from the Ateneo de Davao. He passed the bar in 1984. 

Elman obtained a master’s degree in development administration from the Australian National University in 2000.
