COTABATO CITY, Philippines – The police chief of Mother Kabuntalan town in Maguindanao, Police Inspector Tiongan Namla, was ambushed and killed Friday, March 28.

He was shot with .45 and M-16 armalite rifles and suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. He died on the spot.

Police investigators said Namla left the police station and was heading towards Cotabato City at around 5:40 pm Friday. He was alone on his motorcycle when gunmen aboard a green pick-up with no plate number opened fire on him in Barangay (Village) Dulangan, Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao.

Investigators said the suspects might have tailed Namla because they were headed towards Cotabato City as well.

Senior Superintendent Rodelio Jocson, Maguindanao police director, ordered an investigation and formed a group to pursue the suspects.

Just last month, the police investigator of the same police station, was shot dead also while on his way home.
