Blind Chinese activist Chen Guancheng says he has adapted a wait-and-see attitude towards efforts that will allow him and his family to leave China and travel to the United States on a study abroad program. Chen says the Chinese government still needs to prove that it is serious about its deal with the US to let him leave the country. The deal was fostered between the two nations after he left the care of the US Embassy in Beijing earlier this month. Chen has, over the last decade, spoken against China’s one-child policy, calling it a guise for forced abortions and sterilizations.
