The Interpol has included the suspects in the murder of Palawan broadcaster Gerry Ortega in its global alert list

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Philipines – The Interpol has included the Reyes
brothers of Palawan in its red notice list, putting in place an international alert on the continuing search for the suspects in the murder of a broadcaster.

The Interpol Red Notices List that includes ex-Gov. Joel T. Reyes and (Coron) Mayor Mario T. Reyes, both wanted for the murder of Palawan broadcaster and environmentalist  Gerry Ortega, was released to reporters by the Gana, Atienza and Avisado Law Offices which represents the Ortega family in the ongoing murder case pre-trial.

The Reyes brothers had gone into hiding since a Palawan court issued an arrest warrant in connection with Ortega’s in January 2010.

Mika Ortega, eldest daughter of the victim, said the inclusion of the Reyes brothers in the international police’s watch list was made at the request of the family through their counsels. “While speculations arose that the brothers have left the country illegally, this development surely gives us much hope that eventually they will be captured and tried in the court of law,” Ortega said. – Rappler.com
