Jessica makes it to Top 2

Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips made it, while Joshua Ledet got booted from the megahit singing show, “American Idol” on Thursday, May 18 (Friday in Manila). Her last performance got mixed reviews from the judges, raising fears she would be eliminated. She sang 3 songs, Mariah Carey’s “My All,” Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing,” and the Jackson 5’s classic hit, “I’ll Be There.” Compared to the two other finalists, Phillips and Ledet, Sanchez was the only one not to get a standing ovation from all 3 judges on Wednesday, May 16 (Thursday, May 17 in Manila). She earlier tweeted that her throat was not feeling well and that she had been drinking tea to lessen the discomfort. The final 2 “Idol” contestants will proceed to the finals Tuesday and Wednesday next week (May 22 and 23 in the US; Wednesday and Thursday, May 23 and 24 in Manila).
