Napoles stays in hospital
Napoles will stay in the Ospital ng Makati pending the resolution of the motion

MANILA, Philippines – Janet Lim Napoles will be staying in the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak or Makati Hospital) after Judge Elmo Alameda said his court had no other choice but to suspend an earlier decision ordering her return to Laguna by Friday, May 23.

“The court has no other option except to suspend the order dated May 20. In other words, the court will hold in abeyance the implementation of the order dated May 20, 2014 pending resolution of the motion of the accused to reconsider the May 20 order and for further medical confinement,” Alameda of Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 said on Friday, May 23.

In an order released minutes after the hearing, Alameda gave OsMak Medical Director Dr. Perry Peralta “within 3 days from today (May 23)” to submit a progress report on Napoles’ medical condition.

The court’s branch sheriff personally served the Philippine National Police a copy of Alameda’s order.

The court will hear the motion on Monday, May 26.

The police had until Friday to return Napoles to Laguna based on a May 20 order from Alameda. But on May 21, doctors recalled an earlier discharge order after they noted Napoles’ “excessive vaginal bleeding.”

Prior to being moved to OsMak to undergo a total hysterectomy, Napoles was detained at Fort Sto Domingo in Laguna for allegedly detaining former aide turned pork barrel scam whistleblower Benhur Luy.

While in the hospital, Napoles met with Justice Secretary Leila de Lima – a meeting that led to a strange twist in the biggest corruption scandal to hit the country in recent years. Napoles drafted a list and an affidavit that implicate lawmakers and officials close to the Aquino administration.
