MANILA, Philippines – Former University of the Philippines (UP) law dean Raul C. Pangalangan has been named publisher of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Alexandra Prieto-Romualdez, Inquirer CEO and President, made the announcement through a memorandum to the newspaper’s employees, the paper said Monday, October 22.
“As Inquirer publisher, Dean Pangalangan will ensure that the paper adheres to the highest journalistic standard, canons of good taste and editorial policies,” the paper said. “Part of his objectives is to ensure the credibility of the paper within laws, journalistic code of ethics and company policies.”
Pangalangan is currently a professor of Constitutional Law and Public Information Law at the UP College of Law, and has been a columnist at the paper.
He replaces the late Isagani Yambot, who passed away last March 2 due to a heart attack.
He was among the 22 official candidates for Chief Justice, and underwent a public interview with the Judicial and Bar Council last July. – Rappler.com
