MANILA, Philippines – While facing criminal charges for raking in millions from diverting pork barrel funds, Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada renewed his wedding vows to his wife Precy Vitug Ejercito on Sunday, June 22.

Photos publicly posted on Facebook by their son, Joseph Luis Ejercito, show the couple of 25 years celebrating in what appears to be an intimate gathering.

Estrada holds up a sign board that says “Marry Me Again.” In another photo, his wife clutches a sign saying “We Still Do.”

The couple married in 1989 when Precy was then 19. Three years later, Estrada won as mayor of San Juan City in Metro Manila.

In his privilege speech on June 11, Estrada vowed to his wife that he will renew their wedding vows in time for their 25th anniversary on June 28. The senator made good on the promise before the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan issues a warrant for his arrest.

Now, as senator, he is one of 3 senators charged with the non-bailable offense of plunder before the Sandiganbayan. He says he is ready to face arrest – which could take place as early as Monday, June 22.
