Find out which roads will be closed during the drill

MANILA, Philippines – If you’re going to the Makati City Hall to do business on Monday, June 30, better finish everything before 1 pm.

On Monday, the local city government will temporarily suspend operations from 1 pm onwards to make way for an earthquake evacuation drill. In a statement, the city said the drill involved a complete electrical shutdown in all offices to simulate a blackout.

Over 3,700 city employees and 300 other employees from other offices – including the Makati regional and metropolitan courts, offices of the public attorney and prosecutor, office of the clerk of court, NSO, Planet drugstore, registry of deeds, COA-Makati, MACEMCO, DILG, PNP-police community relations, PNP-women’s desk and security force – will be part of the drill.

Two lanes will be closed in the following streets:

  • Cardona (from Osmeña to J.P. Rizal)
  • Angono (from Osmeña to J.P. Rizal)
  • F. Zobel (from Osmeña to J.P. Rizal)
  • Hormiga (from Angono to Antipolo)

The following one-way streets will also be closed:

  • Buencamino (two lanes)
  • Ma. Aurora (two lanes)
  • Zenaida (two lanes)

Alongside the earthquake drill will be a fire incident simulation at the city hall’s parking building, where 8 “victims” will be retrieved by search and rescue teams from the main building, the old building, and the parking building, according to the LGU.

Holding areas for employees are Cardona St., Ma. Aurora St., Zenaida St. and front of old building (tiled pavement). – Rappler.com
