The Philippine Coast Guard has yet to identify the armed men who attacked a 10-man crew that departed from Palawan

MANILA, Philippines – Unidentified armed men chased a fishing vessel just north east of Mapun, formerly known as Cagayan de Tawi-Tawi, leaving the captain dead and a crewman missing, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported Monday, July 7.

Arante Tacder, captain of F/V Glenn Mar-B, died while crew member Braming Pañas is missing.

Commodore Enrico Efren Evangelista, district commander of PCG-Palawan, said authorities have yet to identify the motor boat used by the gunmen.

The fishing vessel’s owner, Marita Abredo told the PCG that F/V Glenn Mar-B departed from Puerto Princesa City on July 2 to conduct fishing activities off Tawi-Tawi. The boat had 10 people on board.

Aside from the captain and the missing crew member, others on board were Rodrigo Lu-ang, Renald Castillon, Roger Libratal, Enrique Quinicun, Serio Baco, Michal Calit, Melber Lapinig, and Acasan Tacder.

Evangelista said the crew members jumped into the sea in order to escape the deadly attack by the armed men. – Rappler.com
