Rappler's #SONA2014 microsite will live stream the President's speech on July 28 and allow you to react to each statement he makes by either voting on a mood or commenting on that specific statement

MANILA, Philippines – When President Aquino speaks to the nation on Monday, July 28, we expect that you will want him to  know how you feel about specific statements he makes as well as your views on what he says or isn’t saying.

You will be able to do this and more through the #SONA2014 microsite on Rappler.

As in the previous year, Rappler will stream the President’s speech live on the microsite so you can watch the speech real time and react to it wherever you are in the world.

Rappler will also have a live blog, which will feature reactions to the President’s speech online and on the ground, as well as information that could help you understand and put the President’s speech in context.

In addition, the microsite will once again feature a SONA highlights section, which will help you track important statements the President makes during his speech and will allow you to react to each statement by either voting on a mood or commenting on that specific statement.

The feature is similar to the highlights section we had on the #SONA2013 microsite. But we expanded on the feature so you can do more.

Aside from voting on a mood for each highlight and sharing your vote with friends, you can now comment on each statement the President makes and share that comment through social media.

You will also be able to see moods visualized real time as the votes come in.

Here’s how you can interact with this feature:

This is how it will look:

Individual devices will only be able to vote once per highlight. Votes cannot be reversed or cancelled.

As in the previous year, the mood votes on each of the highlights will be pulled into the mood meter of the full story that features the live blog and the live stream of actual speech.

Apart from voting on the individual highlights, users will still be able to vote separately on the mood meter of the main story featuring the live stream and the live blog. The main story will also have its own comments section. Rappler.com
