DOJ OKs gun raps vs businessman in Enzo Pastor slay

MANILA, Philippines – The justice department on Monday, September 1, approved the filing of charges of illegal possession of firearms against businessman Domingo de Guzman III, the alleged mastermind behind the slay of racer Enzo Pastor.

In the same resolution, Prosecutor General Claro Arellano recommended for further investigation the complaints of frustrated against De Guzman, and of parricide and frustrated murder against the racer’s wife Dahlia Guerrero Pastor.

Pastor was gunned down by men riding a motorcycle on June 12. Captured by the police, the alleged hit man, Police Officer 2 Edgar Angel, said De Guzman had hired him for the operation. Authorities are looking at a “love triangle” between Pastor, De Guzman, and Pastor’s wife Dahlia.

De Guzman and Angel are under police custody while no charges have been filed against Dahlia.

Two loaded unlicensed handguns were seized from De Guzman during his arrest.

“The firearm was seized from respondent De Guzman when, in plain view, the policemen saw it tucked into his waist. When asked to produce the documents to show his authority to carry the said firearms, respondent failed to present/produce any,” the resolution read.

The preliminary investigation for frustrated murder complaint against De Guzman has been set for September 9, while Dahlia Pastor has been asked to appear at the Department of Justice on September 16. – Rappler.com
