MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested on Sunday, September 7, a man wanted for the kidnap, murder, and robbery incidents, and who had escaped from Davao prison 20 years ago.

At 8:45 pm on Sunday, police arrested Martin Lico, who goes by the alias “Romeo Buluran,” “Bogart,” “Aldreen Daat,” and “Paul.”

Lico is wanted for the kidnapping and murder of Jose Saribong and his driver Jimmy Palermo, and for the alleged kidnapping for ransom of Vicente Cordero III, Emmanuel Boniao, and for the foiled kidnapping of Engineer Antonio Botor.

His arrest was made through a warrant issued by Judge Maria Claire Victoria Mabutas-Sortan of Branch 95 of the Antipolo City Regional Trial Court.

Lico was arrested in Las Pinas City by operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) and the Presidential Anti-Origanized Crime Council.

Lico, police said, previously escaped from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm on February 5, 1994. He is a former member of the Alferez organized crime group and a “sub-leader” of the Ozamis robbery, hold-up, and kidnap-for-ransom group that operates in Manila, nearby provinces, and Mindanao.

Police said Lico is also wanted for at least 9 cases of bank robbery and hold-up. – Rappler.com
