The Office of the President says it has yet to receive copies of the Ombudsman's resolution on the case of the PRC chief who entered a deal with a Palace official's relative

MANILA, Philippines – The Office of the President (OP) has yet to receive the recommendation of the Office of the Ombudsman to dismiss Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) chair Teresita Manzala, but when it does, Malacañang said it will comply.

The Palace is also prepared to abide by the Ombudsman’s resolution to suspend Optical Media Board Chair Ronald Ricketts.

On Monday, September 8, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr said they will await the official copies before taking any action.

“We have not received the official copies of the Ombudsman resolutions which reportedly ordered the dismissal from office of Professional Regulation Commission Chair Teresita Manzala, and the suspension from office of Optical Media Board Chair Ronald Ricketts,” Coloma said in a statement.

“The OP will await the official copies of the Ombudsman’s resolutions, if any, on these cases, and will comply with the orders of the Ombudsman, in accordance with law.”

In an exclusive report, Rappler cited documents showing that Manzala was found to have conspired with a developer closely identified with Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr to execute an allegedly rigged contract. (READ: PRC chief ordered sacked by over deal with Ochoa in-law)

Apart from the dismissal, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales also ordered the filing of graft charges before the Sandiganbayan against Manzala, another former Commissioner Alfredo Po, New San Jose Builders Incorporated (NSJBI) president Cesar Sanqui, and former NSBJI first vice president Mary Grace Villacorta.

NSJBI is the company that Manzala and Po allegedly entered a sweetheart deal with.

Meanwhile, Ricketts has been ordered suspended for allegedly releasing illegal copies of DVDs that were seized in an operation. – Rappler.com
