Magnitude 6.0 earthquake rocks Northern Luzon

Epicenter of quake was located 52km SW of Candelaria, Zambales

MANILA, Philippines: A magnitude 6.0 earthquake rocked Northen Luzon around 6:18 a.m., Sunday, June 17, 2012.

According to the Philippine Institue of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) the earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 12km. The epicenter of the quake was located 52km SW of Candelaria, Zambales.

Intensity III was felt in QC, Intensity IV in Makati City.

The US Geological Survey, meanwhile, has the quake at magnitude 6.1.

Immediately after the quake, Rappler’s followers on Twitter reported feeling tremors in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Cavite, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Pangasinan and Baguio City.
