MISSING: Camarines Norte governor’s wife, aide
A round-the-clock search operation is ordered after the car of Governor Edgardo Tallado's wife was found abandoned along Maharlika Highway in Lupi Camarines Sur on October 18

MANILA, Philippines – The search is on for the wife of Camarines Norte Governor Edgardo “Egay” Tallado, Josie, and her aide after they went missing Friday, October 17. Police found their abandoned service vehicle on Saturday, October 18.

In a post on his Facebook page, Tallado confirmed that his wife and her aide were still missing as of Sunday evening, October 19.

Tallado’s wife and her aide, Darlene Francisco, have not been seen since they left for Barangay 3 in the town of Vinzons Friday afternoon, October 17, onboard a Toyota Fortuner.

PO1 Michael Lubiano was supposed to accompany Tallado and Francisco, but the governor’s wife Josie told the police officer to instead wait for them in the village at 7pm, Bombo Radyo reported.

When the women failed to return at the agreed time and place, Lubiano tried to call them but they did not answer their phones, according to the Bicol Standard.

On Saturday afternoon, the Toyota Fortuner they used to drive to Barangay 3 was found abandoned along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Napolidan, Lupi, Camarines Sur, more than 60 kilometers from Vinsons town.

Police found 3 matchsticks inside the car, a pillow soaked with crude oil, and a partly-burned umbrella, Bicol Standard reported.
