MANILA, Philippines – Hours after it housed an American soldier accused of killing a Filipino transgender woman, the Philippine military’s general headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, was bombarded with protests.
The sister and the fiancé of slain transgender woman Jennifer Laude climbed the gates of Camp Aguinaldo near the Joint US Military Assistance Group compound where US Marine Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton is being held.
Marilou Laude and Marc Sueselbeck managed to get inside the compound where the military container van carrying Pemberton is located, causing commotion. Both said they’re protesting the “special treatment” accorded Pemberton.
Last Friday, at the wake of Laude in Olongapo City, Sueselbeck said he is not inclined to forgive Pemberton. “How can I forgive him? I’m not in the position to forgive him…I have more anger in my heart than probably most of the people here,” Sueselbeck said.
Pemberton was brought to Camp Aguinaldo Wednesday morning, where he will be staying for the duration of the preliminary probe into accusations he killed Laude. – Rappler.com
