Binay to Senate foes: Spare my youngest daughter
Vice President Jejomar Binay says his critics have crossed the line in dragging daughter Joanna Marie into their efforts to discredit him

MANILA, Philippines – Did Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano cross the line when he presented at a Senate hearing photos posted by Vice President Jejomar Binay’s youngest daughter on a social media site?

Vice President Jejomar Binay seemed to think so, as he lamented what he called moves to drag youngest daughter Joanna Marie into efforts to discredit him. (READ: Caught on Instagram? VP daughter’s ‘Hacienda Binay’ photos)

Alam mo ba nakakalungkot. Ako’y sinisiraan, pati ba naman ‘yung anak ko na bunso? Isinasama pa sa kinukutya at hinahamak. Bahala na Diyos sa kanila,” Binay said in an interview in Camarines Sur on Friday, October 31.

(It saddens me. I’m being maligned but why my youngest daughter too? She’s being ridiculed and belittled. God will deal with them.)

Binay added: “Sobra na po. Sobra na (This is too much).”

At the Senate hearing on the alleged overpriced Makati City Hall Building 2 on Thursday, Cayetano presented Joanna Marie’s Instagram posts on the 350-hectare tagged by the Vice President’s former allies as  “Hacienda Binay.”

Joanna Marie captioned one photo, “Our place in Batangas,” showing one of the pools in the property. Another photo shows the Vice President himself enjoying a round of karaoke in the same house. (Check out the photos here)

The account has been deactivated.

The photos were posted in December 2013, long after Binay supposedly divested of his interest in the farm. (READ: Does Antonio Tiu really own Hacienda Binay?)

Binay maintained that the photos are not proof of ownership. –
