Sandiganbayan to SC: Can’t resolve Revilla bail plea yet
The anti-graft court is supposed to resolve by Saturday, November, whether to allow the senator to post bail, but says it needs 10 more days to weigh evidence and documents

MANILA, Philippines – The anti-graft court has asked the Supreme Court to extend the deadline for resolving the plea of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr to given given temporary liberty.

The Sandiganbayan First Division submitted for resolution Revilla’s bail plea on Thursday, November 20. Based on Supreme Court circular, a court has 48 hours to determine the strength of evidence of guilt and decide whether to grant bail.

In the case of Revilla, who is facing plunder and graft charges in connection with the illegal diversion of his pork barrel, the 48-hour period will end on Saturday, November 22.

However, in a letter sent to the High Court on Friday, November 21, the anti-graft court’s 1st division asked for a 10-day extension to resolve the petition.

The Sandiganbayan said “it would be physically impossible” for the court to resolve the petition in two days given the number of witnesses and documents they have to weigh. – Rappler.com
