(UPDATED) A special team has been deployed to rescue construction workers trapped in the building

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A fire broke out in a 31-storey building in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig late Thursday morning, November 27.

The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) has deployed a special response unit to rescue construction workers trapped in the building located at 32nd Street.

The fire reached the third alarm just before 11 am.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined as of this posting. DZMM reported  smoke emanating from the basement of the building, which is still under construction.

DZMM also reported that several construction workers have been rescued and treated, after suffering from difficulty in breathing due to smoke inhalation.

In an interview on 9News, Ruel Morello of Megawide Construction Corporation, the employer of the construction workers in One World, said all of their workers are safely out of the building.

“There are no injuries or major injuries,” said Morello, Megawide’s lead coordinator on site.
