MANILA, Philippines – Five Filipinos are among the 27 crewmembers killed in the December 1 sinking of a South Korean fishing vessel off the coast of Russia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Thursday, December 11.

The DFA announced two more Filipino fatalities from the sea mishap, bringing the total number of Filipino casualties to 5. 

The DFA spokesperson Charles Jose also said in a news briefing that  the Philippine government is arranging the repatriation of the 3 Filipinos who were among the 7 rescued crewmembers of the Oryong 510 trawler.

There are 26 missing Oryong 501 crewmembers, 5 of whom are Filipinos.
