Magnitude 6.1 quake strikes off Zamboanga City
MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck 200 kilometers northwest of Zamboanga City at 5:29 pm on Monday, December 29, Phivolcs reported.
No damage or casualty was reported.
There is no tsunami warning, according to Arnold Belo Santos of Phivolcs. "But we can expect aftershocks," he added.
Phivolcs issued the following intensity levels:
- Intensity IV - Zamboanga City
- Intensity II - Dumaguete City and Bayawan City, Negros Oriental; Iloilo City; Oroquieta City, Misamis Oriental; Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte
- Intensity I - Lugait, Misamis Oriental; Busay, Cebu; La Carlota, Negros Occidental
