MANILA, Philippines – Philippine Marines met with Special Action Force commandos on Tuesday, February 3, in a stress debriefing activity meant to help ease their pain after their encounter in Maguindanao.
The Marine Battalion Landing Team 1 (MBLT-1) conducted psychosocial processing for their counterparts in the 55th Special Action Company.
The 42 participants were comrades of the 55-SAC commandos who were wiped out in Mamasapano on January 25. (READ: SAF 44 widow: What happened in Mamasapano?)
Aside from the members of the MBLT-1, Zamboanga City Mayor Isabelle Climaco Salazar – a qualified counselor – and Dr. Lolina N. Bajin RP of Camp Navarro General Hospital in Western Mindanao were also part of the stress debriefing.
Lt. Col. Ronald Juan, Commander of the MBLT-1 in Zamboanga City, noted, “We conducted the psychosocial processing to the members of the 55-SAC who are not directly involved but have lost their close friends and buddies in the operation in Mamasapano.”
Juan added that the debriefing process allowed the participants to let go of their emotions and unload their grief.
The MBLT-1 went through a 4-day training course and workshop on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Capacities (MHPSC) in Combat Operations under Dr. Bajin.
Following the debriefing of the commandos, the MBLT-1 looked to hold another session for the families of the fallen 44 in Zamboanga City. – Rappler.com
