
MANILA, Philippines – There are 5 names shortlisted for the post of Sandiganbayan (SB) associate justice, the Judicial and Bar Council announced on Monday, February 23.
There has been a vacancy in the anti-graft court following the dismissal of Associate Justice Gregory Ong. (READ: Who will replace sacked anti-graft court justice?)
The following names, with the corresponding votes they got from the JBC, will be submitted to President Benigno Aquino III:
- Philip A. Aguinaldo – 7 votes
- Mary Ann Corpus-Manalac – 7 votes
- Bernelito R. Fernandez – 6 votes
- Sarah Jane Fernandez – 6 votes
- Jose Justiniano – 5 votes
On September 23, 2014, the Supreme Court dismissed Ong, declaring him guilty of gross misconduct, dishonesty, and impropriety. Ong was linked to alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles. – Rappler.com
