Syrian Defense Minister killed in suicide bombing

Syrian state media is reporting that defense minister General Daoud Rajha was killed during an attack by a suicide bomber at the National Security building in Damascus. The bombing took place during a meeting of top-level officials Wednesday, July 18 a day after fighting reach the capital city with rebel forces declaring an all-out assault to seize the capital from President Bashar al-Assad and his government. Helicopters have been seen patrolling the Damascus skies, tanks have also been deployed in what is reported to be the biggest military movement in Damascus since protests against al-Assad began in March 2011. Other participants of the meeting including Interior Minister Mohammed al-Shaar was among those wounded.
