2 killed in Toronto street party shooting


Two people were killed and 21 others were injured in a shoot out that took place at a street party in Toronto, Canada on Monday, July 16. The victims were a 14-year-old female and a 21-year-old male who were caught in the cross fire when two individuals began firing at random after an altercation. Police believe the incident to be gang-related. One “person of interest” is already in police custody. Incidents of shooting in Toronto, Canada’s largest city, are up by 34% since 2011, but city mayor Rob Ford says the homicides are “isolated incidents” and that “Toronto is the safest city in the world.”
