Moderate quake shakes central Visayas
CEBU CITY, Philippines – A magnitude 4.7 quake shook parts of the Visayas on Monday morning, March 30.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that the quake of tectonic origin has an epicenter located 8 kilometers southeast of Buenavista town in Bohol Province. It struck the area at around 9:47 am.
In Cebu City, employees of high rise buildings were reported to have evacuated their offices momentarily. The quake was however felt in less than 3 seconds.
Intensity V was felt in San Miguel, Bohol, while Intensity IV was felt in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu and Buenavista, Bohol.
Iloilo City, Bogo City in Cebu, Tagbilaran City, and Bacolod City felt the quake at Intensity III.
The United States Geological Services put the quake at magnitude 4.8, and placed the epicenter 25 kilometers south of Garcia-Hernandez town in Bohol.
