New PH Guinness record: Longest parade of tricycles
Guinness World Records representatives declare the new official world record in Cauayan City, Isabela, where 681 tricycles successfully joined the bid

CAGAYAN, Philippines – Cauayan City in Isabela province has displaced Beijing, China, as the world record holder in having the longest parade of motorcycles with sidecars or tricycles.

Representatives from the Guinness World Records officially declared Cauyan City as the new world record holder on Wednesday, April 8, after counting 681 tricycles completing the parade – more than double the 317 motorcycles with sidecars of previous record-holder Beijing.

The new world record was officially declared hours after the parade, which began at 4 pm on Wednesday.

The City of Cauayan partnered with local motorcycle dealer Ropali Motorcycles, Honda Motors, and  civic organization History to pull off the feat.

The successful bid was made during the Cauayan city fiesta, the Gawaygaway-yan Festival.

Based on the Guinness World Records mechanics, motorcycles with sidecars must be fully registered and must be able to finish the route.

A total of 685 vehicles were registered for the attempt but only 681 finished the route, as 4 units had engine and tire issues along the way.

Isabela Governor Faustino Dy III thanked the townspeople for their cooperation.

“We are happy and thankful that the people are cooperating with our dreams and aspirations for our province and cities here. This is something the country should be proud of,” Dy said in a text message.
