Velasquez, Rodriguez disqualified from CJ race

MANILA, Philippines – The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has disqualified lawyer Vicente Velasquez and Cagayan de Oro Rep Rufus Rodriguez from the race for the chief justice post.

The JBC disqualified the two for their failure to comply with documentary requirements.

This leaves only 20 candidates vying for the country’s highest judicial position.

The JBC is currently conducting public interviews of the nominees. Velesquez was supposed to be interviewed on Thursday, July 26, and Rodriguez on Friday, July 27.
