Power outage, lower economic growth hound India

On August 1, Power has been fully restored to 3 electricity grids that failed in India, causing an unprecedented blackout affecting more than 600 million people. The crisis affected 20 out of the nation’s 29 states, including the huge cities of New Delhi and Kolkata. The government has announced an investigation into the cause of the crisis, which is a blow to the image of the world’s second most populous nation as it strives for greater global economic and political clout. On the same week, another bad news about India hugged headlines: the country, which has one of the world’s fastest-growing economy, is facing a slower growth of 6.5% from 7.5%, according to the central bank.
