
Take a stand on reproductive health. Malacanang urges the House of Representatives to move the RH bill forward to the amendment stage by taking a vote, scheduled for August 7. At stake: a contentious bill that seeks to educate and provide options for women, according to its supporters; and legalized abortion and a loss of morals, according to those against it. The Senate bill is now on amendments stage. If the RH bill is to have a hope of passing as a law in this session of Congress, it must come to a vote in the House and win. It needs 145 out of 285 votes to move to the next stage. Both pro and anti RH bill advocates claim they have the votes to win. President Aquino gave tepid support during last week’s State of the Nation address, but the Palace has come out with stronger statements in the past few days.
