De Lima appeals IBP verdict

Rappler learns Justice Secretary Leila De Lima filed a motion for reconsideration before the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) to ask the group to dismiss disbarment cases against her without a formal investigation.  The cases were filed after she allegedly ignored a Supreme Court order that allowed former President Gloria Arroyo to leave the country.  She claims she didn’t receive the order in time.  If IBP does not dismiss the cases, it would derail her from being considered for the top judicial post in the Philippines.  The Judicial and Bar Council votes on a shortlist of candidates for chief justice on Monday, August 6.  That list goes to President Aquino, who makes the final choice.
