(UPDATED) 3 members of the PNP Special Action Force are killed in an ambush in Sulu
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Three members of the Special Action Force (SAF) of the Philippine National Police and a civilian were wounded in an ambush in Omar, Sulu, on Thursday, August 2, the police said.
Reports from Sulu-PNP said armed men ambushed the SAF unit in Barangay Laing-Laing, Omar at around 3.30 p.m. The ambushed convoy came from the capital town of Jolo and was on its way to Omar town hall to install Mohammad as its new mayor, the PNP said.
The suspects were believed to be followers of former Omar Mayor Hadji Ahmad Omar.
Only last Wednesday, August 1, a bomb exploded near the Catholic church in Jolo. No one was hurt in the incident. – Rappler.com
