Slain wife of PLDT exec was in Cavite, footage shows

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) released on Thursday, July 2, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the local government of Carmona, Cavite, showing the car of Gloria Gonzales passed through Barangay Cabilang Baybay on the day she died.

Gonzales’ gold Toyota Innova was seen passing through Governor’s Drive in Cabilang Baybay in Carmona, and was bound for the next town, General Mariano Alvarez, at 1:49 pm on Thursday, June 25.

Earlier reports said her last mobile transmission was traced to Silang, Cavite, at around 2:30 pm on the same day, but investigators have yet to confirm the validity of the trace.

Gonzales, wife of Philippine Long Distance Company (PLDT) vice president John Gonzales, was found dead in the backseat of her car on Sunday, June 28, in Laguna province, also south of Metro Manila.

“We are still trying to build the chronological order of events from when she left her house in Parañaque up to the time we found her car in Barangay San Vicente, Laguna. With the CCTV footage, we can confirm where she passed and lay out part of the timeline,” said Police Superintendent Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of Task Force Gloria.

Gaoiran said they are still waiting for other CCTV feeds from private establishments which might have caught Gonzales’ car.

“We still need other footages that could provide us clearer images. Ito kasi medyo malabo pa, hindi pa namin ma-establish ‘yung nasa loob ng kotse,” Gaoiran added.

Police have confirmed the plate number of Gonzales’ car (UOS-146) from the footage. However, the identity of the driver could not be established.

Investigors are questioning Gonzales’ friends to establish their relationships with her and her jewellery business. They also plan to probe Gonzales’ immediate family, but will do so after her burial as “respect for their time of grieving.”

Gonzales was last seen riding her car on June 25 and had been reported missing since. Police found her dead in her car which was parked along J Gonzales Street, Barangay San Vicente, Biñan City, Laguna. – Rappler.com
