7 dead in US Sikh temple shooting

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation will investigate Sunday’s shooting rampage at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin that left 6 people and the gunman dead. Three others were wounded, including a police officer who was first to respond to the scene. All 3, including the congregation’s president, are in critical condition, according to CNN. The FBI will try to determine whether the shooting incident was a “domestic terrorist-type” even as no motive has been determined. Originating in northern India, the Sikh religion has about 25 million followers, 700,000 of them in the US. With beards and turbans, Sikh men are often mistaken for Hindus or Muslims and have been the target of hate crimes since the 9-11 attacks on New York and Washington.
