In an exclusive interview with Rappler, Philippine Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno talks about her personal paradigm for power and her plans to lead the reform of the judiciary. Among the reforms she discusses in the interview is the electronic court system which is piloted in Yolanda-hit Tacloban City. The automated system, according to Sereno, enables issuance of orders ‘as soon as they come out of the mouth of judges.’ The electronic court system is part of the Infrastructure Master Development Program which Sereno hopes to implement during her stint in the High Court in order to speed up delivery of justice in the country. Appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court 3 years ago, Sereno will be serving for an unprecedented 18 years as Chief Justice, and will work with 4 presidents until she steps down in 2030.
