MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Lubang Island on Tuesday, August 7, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology & Seismology reported.
The quake, which is of tectonic origin, struck at 1:03 pm, with the epicenter located 42 kilometers northwest (13.86°N, 119.74°E) of the island, at a depth of 31 km.
Intensity III was felt in Lubang, Occidental Mindoro; while Intensity II was felt in Pasay City; Manila; Clark, Pampanga; and Olongapo City. Intensity I, meanwhile was felt in Quezon City.
The Phivolcs said no damage is expected from the quake, but aftershocks will be present. – Rappler.com
