MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – Days after a deadly blaze struck a footwear factory in the city, another blaze hit a residential community in Valenzuela City late Saturday night, May 16.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that the fire in Marulas, Valenzuela, was raised to the 5th alarm at 11:09 pm.
The Valenzuela city government declared the fire under control before midnight, and fire out at 12:07 am Sunday, May 17.
Displaced residents were brought to the Serrano Elementary School for temporary shelter. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
The blaze, which hit Pinagpala Street in Fatima, Marulas, a residential area, took place a few days after fire gutted the Kentex Manufacturing factory in Barangay Ugong in Valenzuela city, killing at least 72 people. – Rappler.com
