Bikoy now free after posting bail from PNP hospital

MANILA, Philippines – A day after recanting his controversial statements against the Duterte administration, the man known as Bikoy is now a free man.

Peter Joemel Advincula had his bail bonds paid through his lawyer on Friday, May 24, in Baguio City, where he is currently facing a complaint for 6 counts of estafa.

This was confirmed to Rappler by police spokesman Colonel Bernard Banac, who said Advincula paid P1,000 for each count of estafa. (TIMELINE: The 'Bikoy' controversy)

This means that Advincula will no longer be kept under police custody while he faces the cases.

As of press time, Advincula remained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital after supposedly experiencing headaches and chest pain while being detained with the police.

According to Banac, he would remain under the PNP hospital's care until his doctor clears him for release. –
