BSP's Tetangco is 2015's highest paid gov’t official

MANILA, Philippines – Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr was the highest paid government official in 2015, with total earnings of P13.957 million, the 2015 Report on Salaries and Allowances released by the Commission on Audit on Tuesday, July 5, showed.

His pay was broken down as follows: |

In 2015, Tetangco was hailed by New York-based Global Finance magazine as one of the world's top central bankers.

Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) general manager Robert G. Vergara, who was government’s top earner in 2012 and 2013, was second with P13.449 million in earnings. He and Tetangco were the only ones on the list with 8-figure salaries in 2015.

His pay was broken down as follows:

Third highest paid government official was Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairperson Teresita J. Herbosa with P9.801 million. She is the only government official included in the list who was not from a government financial institution (GFI).
