MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – At least 4 people were killed and at least 16 others injured in a bus accident along Quirino Highway in Quezon City on Wednesday, August 12.
The Valisno bus, with plate number TXV 715, was traveling towards San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan when it slammed into an arch on the boundary of Quezon City and Caloocan City past 7 am, radio reports said.

The impact of the collision wrecked the right side of the passenger bus. Two passengers were killed on the spot, while two others died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Around 16 injured passengers, including bus conductor Ferdinand Dacusan, have been rushed to the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Tala, Caloocan.
The driver of the bus, identified as George Pacis, fled the scene following the incident, but was arrested on Wednesday afternoon according to the Quezon City Police District.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has slapped a 30-day preventive suspension on the entire fleet of the Valisno bus company over the incident.
The yellow plates of all 62 buses will be confiscated by LTFRB inspectors, and the buses will be required to undergo roadworthiness inspection by the Land Transportation Office.
The LTFRB added that the bus company's drivers will be required to undergo a road safety seminar, take a drug test, and secure clearances from police and the National Bureau of Investigation. – Rappler.com
